Mission Statement

BROWN Academy’s Mission is to provide a safe and developmentally appropriate learning and recreational environment, where educators and families work cooperatively to foster the development of each individual child in meeting their full potential.

We Endeavor To:
• Provide an enriching and stimulating curriculum, as well as safe, high quality child care.
• Create strong family partnerships where we not only focus on the children in our care, but our school family becomes an extension of your family.
• Promote a professional and diversified work environment where collaboration and continued education are the norm.
• Build strong, healthy relationships within the communities we serve.

Our Director

Shanna Boyer is a native Floridian, born and raised in Fort Myers. She graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Elementary Education. Shanna relocated to Raleigh, North Carolina, where she taught Pre-Kindergarten at the Goddard School. In 2010, she moved back to Fort Myers to pursue a teaching position at BROWN Academy, where she served as the Kindergarten teacher from 2010-2012.  After obtaining her Florida State Directors Credential in 2012, she held the position of Assistant Director for five years, prior to becoming the Director of BROWN Academy.

Shanna makes her home in Fort Myers with her husband and two beautiful daughters. They enjoy all of the wonderful things that Florida has to offer, including beach days, amusement parks and local volunteer opportunities. “I am extremely honored to be a part of the amazing team at BROWN Academy. We are passionately committed to the success of the children in our community, because every child is worth it!”

Our Faculty

Our warm and friendly administrative team includes; a director, assistant directors, business manager and administrative assistant. From the time we open our doors at 7:00am until the time our school closes at 6:00pm, there are always members of our administrative team on campus ready and willing to assist the families we serve.

Every classroom is staffed with both a degreed teacher and a classroom assistant. Other members of our faculty include a Music Instructor, Physical Educator, Media Specialist, Spanish Instructor and Sign Language Specialist. Lead teachers are required to have a CDA, AA degree in Education or a BA/BS degree in a related field.

Our Swim Instructors are all American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certified; which includes CPR and First Aid certification. There is always a certified life guard on deck during our summer camp swim sessions as well as during lesson time. In addition, our swim instructors have received training in working specifically with young children.

All administrators, teachers, specialists and classroom assistants go through a rigorous interviewing process and are personally chosen by our director. All employees of BROWN Academy undergo local, state and federal background screenings prior to starting their employment at our center.
